Hornets Secure Playoff Spot
With 18 - 6 Win Over Tidewater
Williamsburg's offense used its playing time propitiously, racking up 231-yds rushing on just 21-plays, as the Hornets beat Tidewater 18 - 6 securing a PYFA Post-Season Playoff Spot.
Cesar Ward (8 runs / 132-yds) softened up the T-Wolve Defense with two nice 10-yds runs to open the game. Then, Caden Darber (11 runs / 70-yds) found daylight behind blockers Allen Burkett, Zach Pennycuff & Kade Campbell racing 30-yds for a TD.
The Hornets Defense forced a whopping 5 T-Wolve fumbles in their extended 42-play day. Ar’Mon Jones & Joey Hill (9-Tackles each) & Darber (8-tackles) led the defensive charge.
The front force of Sam Tyler (6-tackles), Josh Farley (5-Tackles) and Russ Schugeld (3-tackles for loss) kept the T-Wolves off the board in the first half.
Just prior to halftime, Ward took a sweeping handoff, and maneuvered 40-yds for a TD behind great point of attack blocking by Jake Savala, Tadic Mielczarek, Hunter Brummett & Ryan Jones.
Leading 12 – 0 to start the 2nd half, the Hornet-D turned the lights out on the T-Wolves chances as Ryan Creecy & Trey Drummond (5-tackles each) stuffed Tidewater runners.
Getting the ball back for their only 3rd quarter possession, Williamsburg went 70-yds in 2-plays as Ward ripped off 60-yd TD, putting the Hornets up 18 - 0.
Tidewater added a late 3rd quarter score to draw closer.
Wrapping up the Hornets win, Josh Womeldorf had 2-tackles. While Carter Weissenfluh & Garrett Turner added touchdown saving solo-stops to help secure Wililamsburg's 18 - 6 win.
