Hornet Passing Attack

Subdues Bulldogs 31 - 0

Hornets passers threw for nearly 100-yards and 2-TDs as Williamsburg opened up a 19 - 0 halftime lead, then rolled 31 – 0 over York-Seaford on Saturday in Seaford, VA.

Williamsburg Defensive Linemen Sam Tyler got the offense on the field when he alertly recovered a Y-S fumble on the Bulldogs 1st play of the game. Getting the ball to the offense led to a quick score as Caden Darber tossed a 26-yd touchdown strike to Zach Pennycuff.

One strong defensive stand later, the offense was back on the field where a 2nd TD pass was nullified by a penalty, but on the next play, Cesar Ward hit Ryan Creecy on a long pass to set up Darber for a 1-yd TD plunge.

Then, as time expired in the half, Creecy hauled in an 18-yd scoring pass to put Williamsburg up 19 – 0.

You can't pass, if you don't block. And Hornet passers were afforded extra pocket time thanks to strong front line blocking provided by Kade Campbell, Jake Savala, Hunter Brummett, Tadic Mielczarek and Alan Burkett.

In the 1st half Ar’Mon Jones (4-tackles), Ryan Jones (3-tackles) and Russ Schugeld (2-tackles) led a smothering defensive assault on the Bulldogs.

Starting the 2nd half, Marcos Piggott ripped off a 38-yd run to put the Hornets near the goal again. Piggot then scored on a 6-yd run behind the blocks of Adam O’Neill, CJ Bolt,  Michael Burt, Josh Herslow & Matthew Prahasky.

Defensively, Monii Burden (5-tackles), Zach Pope (3-tackles) and Clayton Vinson (3-tackles) kept the Bulldogs on a leash. Jeffry Shi and Justin Ford also registered big stops later in the game.

Offensively, Burden (7 runs / 29-yds) & Carter Weissenfluh toted the pigskin.

Weissenfluh also stepped up on defensive side of the ball, snaring a Bulldog pass late in the game and returning it 10-yds for the Hornets’ final score of the contest.
