Game Summary (September 27, 2008)

Hornets Blank Back River 12 - 0;

Move To 3 - 1 On Season

The Hornets offense dominated the 1st half while the defensive unit shut down another opponent in the Green Mighty Mites 12 – 0 win over Back River.

The Hornets moved the ball throughout the 1st half starting from the opening kick. Cameron Chevrier (10 runs / 37-yds), Cesar Ward (6 runs / 21-yds) and Caden Darber took turns moving the pigskin behind solid blocking by Hunter Brummett, Jake Savala & Alan Burkett for a quick score and 6 – 0 lead.

Williamsburg's defense then tallied the first of their 3 consecutive 3 and out series in the half. Darber led all Hornet tacklers wtih 8-stops on the day. Following close behind, Ar'Mon Jones, Joey Hill and Trey Drummond each registered 6-tackles on the day.

The Green Offense added to the Hornets lead on their 2nd possession.

This time the Hornets moved 50-yds on 9-plays keeping possession of the ball when Tight End Zach Pennycuff alertly pounced on a fumble. Darber then zipped in untouched for the score behind blockers Tadic Mielczarek & Ryan Creecy giving the Hornets a 12 – 0 halftime lead.

The 2nd half was very much controlled by the defenses of both teams. Williamsburg featured timely stops by Ryan Jones & Pennycuff (4-tackles each), as well as Sam Tyler (2-stops). Safety Joey Hill put the exclamation point on the win tallying his, and the Hornets, 1st interception on the year.

Monii Burden provided the only offensive spark in the 2nd half for Williamsburg taking a handoff from QB Marcos Piggott, and running behind the blocks of Carter Weissenfluh & Michael Burt for a 30-yd gain to the Panther’s goal as time expired.

Another day, another banner buster. You'd have a better chance of holding back the tides in Poqouson.

You should consider switching to the de'caf, Coach Rich.

Greg shares his feelings on 700 thread count towels & their moisture absorbancy properties with Chuck.

Mathew, Jackson & Monii pregame; Captains Trey, Sam, Cooper and CJ for the coin toss.

How many blocks can you count as Caden sweeps to the left? Cesar takes the handoff and is gone!

The Hornets Defense is on the ball, ready for action!
