Game Summary (September 20, 2008)

Hornets Round Up Bulls;

Williamsburg Wins 26 - 0

Williamsburg scored three times in the 1st half, and never looked back en route to a 26 - 0 win over the visiting Poqouson Bulls.

 

Cameron Chevrier (8 runs / 45-yds) tallied the Hornets 1st score on a 25-yd TD run using solid blocks by Jake Savala & Tadic Mielczarek.

 

Williamsburg then added two scores in the span of 2-minutes prior to halftime to pull ahead 20 - 0.

  

The 1st,a 17-play bruiser of a drive, featured pass receptions by Ryan Creecy & Zach Pennycuff, and culminated when Caden Darber (8 runs / 54-yds) ran in for 1-yd TD behind the blocks of Alan Burkett & Kade Campbell.

 

After that, Pennycuff recovered a muffed kick-off to Poqouson, and the Hornets were in business again. This time, Cesar Ward (4 runs / 42-yds) zipped 36-yds to the Poqouson goal, where Darber muscled in again. 

The Hornets were tough on defense as well limiting the Bulls to 18-offensive snaps, the Hornets ran 43-plays.

 

Joey Hill registered 4 tackles on the day leading all Hornets. Trey Drummond, Ar’Mon Jones and Darber each mustered 3 stops a piece. While Russ Schugeld and Chris Humphries also weighed in with hits.

 

Williamsburg mounted a 12-play quarter eating drive to start the 2nd half.

 

Monii Burden (9 runs / 62-yds), Carter Weissenfluh (4 runs / 11-yds) & Marcos Piggott shouldered the load. Blockers Cooper Minor, Michael Burt, CJ Bolt, and Justin Ford opened the lanes for Burden to score on a nifty 46-yd run.

 

Defensively, Zach Pope, Clayton Vinson & Josh Herslow each had 2-tackles to finish up the game.
