Hornets Topple Titans;
Win Season Opener 35 - 0
Cameron Chevrier, Joey Hill, Caden Darber, Marcos Piggott, and Monii Burden all scored touchdowns for the Hornets while Bryant Walker, Cesar Ward and Ryan Jones converted all five Point After Touchdown's on the day as Williamsburg cruised to a 35 – 0 opening day victory over the Tri-Rivers Titans.
Blockers Hunter Brummett, Alan Burkett and Jake Savala led the way early for Hornet runners, while front men Cooper Minor, CJ Bolt and Kade Campbell paved the way later.
The Hornets defense stuffed the Titans throughout the game, tallying 17 tackles for loss in 21 Titan offensive plays.
Defensively, in the game’s first half Ar’Mon Jones (4-stops) and Zach Pennycuff (3-tackles) were the Hornets leading hit-men. Chris Humphries recovered a fumble to give Williamsburg favorable field possession on the game's opening kick-off. Defenders Sam Tyler, Russ Schugeld and Ryan Creecy racked up 2 tackles each.
In the second half, Zach Pope, Clayton Vinson, Michael Burt, and Burden each tallied 3-tackles. Josh Herslow, Josh Womeldorf and Sean Ferguson each chipped in a defensive stop as well in the season opening victory.
